The “Ukrainian Refugee Support” project is an initiative aimed at providing crucial assistance to refugees from Ukraine who have fled to the Sighisoara area., and since then, it has carried out several activities to support the refugees.
One of the primary activities of the project is the organization of a kindergarten and school with the support of UNICEF. The facility has around 100 children and 14 hired teachers, all of whom are refugees. This initiative aims to ensure that the children receive quality education and have access to a safe learning environment.
Another critical activity of the project is the operation of a social shop and food bank. This initiative provides free food, clothing, furniture, and other essential supplies to approximately 400 refugees in the Sighisoara area. The social shop and food bank aim to ensure that refugees have access to basic necessities and do not have to worry about where their next meal will come from. This part of the program is heavily supported by Rotary – Webster City, Iowa USA.

Furthermore, the project has set up a logistic department consisting of five minivans and two sedans with drivers. These vehicles are offering free transportation to Ukrainian refugees, allowing them to access essential services such as healthcare and education.
Since March 2022, the project has been organizing transport every two weeks, with two to six minivans loaded with supplies. The initiative aims to provide aid to those affected by the conflict and ensure that those living in the war zone have access to essential supplies.
Overall, the “Ukrainian Refugee Support” is a major project of Light of the World Sighisoara, providing critical assistance to refugees from Ukraine. Through the various activities, the project is working to ensure that refugees have access to basic necessities and that they can access essential services, such as healthcare and education.
